Crews are working to clear the scene of an accident involving a Shreveport Police unit.
The accident happened around 9:50am Wednesday near Lakeshore and Dilg League.
According to authorities, a police officer was headed south on Lakeshore Drive when a silver Toyota at a stop sign crossed in front of the the officer's vehicle and the two collided in the center of the street.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to Willis Knighton hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The police officer was taken to the police station for routine tests.
As a result of the accident the officer's vehicle also hit a water hydrant.
Crews with the water department were called to the scene to evaluate the hydrant and whether it was contaminated with oil from the police unit.
