A DeSoto Parish sheriff’s deputy was caught filing a false expense report and fired, according to Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle.
Cpl. Mike Hughes was terminated when he turned in a request for a bogus reimbursement check.
Hughes, who also is on the board of directors for the National Narcotics Detection Dog Association, submitted a per diem request for $348 for expenses related to attendance at the association’s recent training, even though as a director his expenses were covered.
