Terrebonne Parish sheriff's deputies say it was a drug deal gone bad that prompted a Dulac man to drive to a Bayou Grand Caillou dock Sunday, shoot at one shrimper and kill another.
Authorities tell The Courier that neither shrimper was involved in the alleged drug deal.
Twenty-nine-year-old Richard Verdin Jr. was arrested early Tuesday and booked with second-degree murder in the death of 49-year-old Hung Vo of Houma. He also faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Deputies say Verdin allegedly shot at a deckhand first, who dodged the bullet by jumping into the water, then turned his gun on Vo.
