The Shreveport city council has voted unanimously to override the mayor's veto of dog park funding. But the mayor's signature is still needed to move forward with the cooperative endeavor agreement.

"As per our charter, the mayor is required to sign all contracts on behalf of the council," said District C Councilman Oliver Jenkins. "That's part of his executive role."

A spokesman for Mayor Cedric Glover's office told KTBS Wednesday the mayor has no plans to sign that document and will move on to other city business.

Meanwhile, the Red River Waterway Commission on Wednesday approved the cooperative endeavor agreement with the city of Shreveport. The Waterway Commission also discussed other recreational funding requests along the Red River, including one of several requests from Shreveport.

The Waterway Commission gave approval to begin planning stages on improvements to Riverview Park. The city wants to build bathrooms, changing rooms and a permanent pavilion to the stage at the park. That request adds up to about $1,000,000. The actual construction dollars won't be allocated until Fiscal Year 2014.
