SHREVEPORT, La. -

If dogs and their owners are on the prowl, it must be another Shreveport Dog Park Alliance fundraiser. Proceeds go toward the proposed Hamel Memorial Dog Park. Something Mayor Cedric Glover is holding up, arguing more needs to be done on the city's riverfront. Alliance member Cynthia Keith says an agreement could be signed soon.

"Basically, it says accept this money, build the dog park and do it now," she said.

However, the city council still needs to pass the agreement and Mayor Glover still needs to sign it. Keith says Glover could veto the agreement but the council could overturn it.

"Hopefully, the city council will vote to give it to the mayor, he'll sign it and we'll be ready to build a dog park," Keith said.

If that does happen, Keith says the alliance will still have fundrasers to add even more to the city.

"And we will continue to always do fundraisers because we want to have several dog parks and make them the best they could possibly be," Keith said.

The city council could vote for the agreement on Tuesday.
