A Shreveport man is behind bars this afternoon following the investigation of an early morning crash that left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries.
Based on information and evidence gathered during their ongoing inquiry, crash investigators have arrested 26 year old Jeremy Jackson on one count each of felony hit and run, expired registration, driving under suspension and no insurance. Jackson, of the 2900 block of Corbitt Street, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop just after midnight this morning relative to a major crash.
Upon arrival patrolmen found 27 year old James Nance suffering extensive injuries.
Nance's left leg had been severed just below the knee and he was subsequently transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department. He is expected to survive.
Investigators immediately responded to the scene and learned a 2007 Chevrolet truck driven by Jackson was apparently east bound on West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop when it struck Nance.
At this early stage of their inquiry, investigators believe Nance may have possibly been walking in the roadway.
Jackson continued driving but returned a short time later, telling authorities he thought he had hit some debris.
