Authorities are investigating the shooting of a woman this morning.

At approximately 6:21 a.m. on August 5, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to Willis-Knighton South relative to a female patient there who had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers learned 26 year old Jessica Brooks, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the buttocks, had been brought to the emergency room in a private vehicle. Brooks is expected to recover from her injuries.

Brooks told detectives she, her husband and a group of acquaintances were leaving a nightclub in the 600 block of Commerce Street between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. this morning when they heard gunshots ring out.

According to initial statements given to investigators, the couple and their friends subsequently got in a vehicle together and left the area before Brooks allegedly realized she had been wounded.

Brooks and her husband then dropped their passengers off before heading to the hospital.
