Work at the future site of Bono Lake near Jonesboro is about to focus on protection from an earthquake.
The county judge says pads are being built that will eventually support a large earthen dam -- and construction is near on a slurry wall designed to protect the dam from tremors.
County Judge Ed Hill told The Jonesboro Sun (http://bit.ly/SwgFnn) that crews have installed a large concrete pipe system to replace a creek on the property northwest of Jonesboro. And Hill says crews are working to install a temporary dam to divert water from the creek to the concrete tile system.
Hill said the slurry wall material isn't solid-- so it should have some "give" in case of an earthquake.
