TYLER, Texas -

Testimony has recessed for the week in the murder trial of a retired East Texas dentist in the shooting death of his wife.
The trial of 76-year-old Bobby Ray Nichols recessed after prosecutors rested their case in the death of 71-year-old Rosalind Nichols, his wife of 26 years. The defense will begin presenting its case Wednesday morning after a long weekend to mark the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Nichols previously admitted to shooting his wife on the night of June 29, 2012, after a heated argument at their Tyler home.
If convicted, Nichols could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
