Texarkana, TX -

Officials with Liberty Eylau ISD have always done annual reviews of their school security measures, but recent events across the country have administrators are making some significant changes.

Liberty Eylau ISD is improving security at all of it's campuses.

Media Coordinator Matt Fry says one area of concern was how the campuses were implementing emergency notifications.

"One campus may notify students of a lockdown one way and another campus another way, so as students move through the district they're going to have to learn all these different ways. We wanted to create some consistency there," said Fry.

The district has also improved their parent reunification program and the district-wide alarm system.

Fry says another priority is creating more controlled entry systems.

The district plans to upgrade their security camera system and add fencing to the primary school.

Administrators, campus police, and local law enforcement have created a coordinated site plan for emergency situations.

The district says knowing what to do can be the most crucial thing in any crisis.

School officials say most of the funding for the upgraded security measures will come from this years or next year's budget.
