Escaped inmate back in custody

Bowie Escapee Caught

An inmate who escaped from the Bowie County Correctional Center is back in custody.

Marques Franklin, 17, was arrested just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

After a short foot chase in the Wake Village area, Officers say Franklin was taken into custody.

Sheriff officials say Franklin returned to the jail with a sanitation crew around 5:30 Saturday morning, but was unaccounted for an hour later.

Officers found the dark blue shirt of his jail uniform in a nearby alley.

Franklin was being held on two counts of robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of evading arrest and failure to identify.

Bowie County Sheriff officials are still investigating how he escaped.
