A vacant seat on the bench at Louisiana's Second Court of Appeal will be filled this fall.
Judge Charles Peatross of Shreveport retired in late 2011, and a November 6 election will decide who will fill the seat.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeal is represented, when full, by nine judges from 20 parishes across North Louisiana.
So far, Caddo District Judge Frances Pitman told KTBS she plans to run for the vacant seat. There has also been talk that Caddo District Judge Craig Marcotte will also make a run. Calls to Judge Marcotte's office were not returned as of Wednesday evening.
Judge Gay Gaskins, also of Shreveport, says she plans to retire in the fall of 2012. The election to fill her seat on the bench would not be held until 2013.
