A Haughton man is behind bars after authorities say he tried to carjack a vehicle full of federal agents.
"He's not one of your smarter ones," said Chris Turner with the U.S. Marshals Office
Turner says three members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force were sitting a red light in downtown Shreveport when Joshua Carter, 25, ran up and started banging on the window and trying to open the door.
Authorities say when Carter realized he had just tried to carjack three officers, he started running, but was caught a short time later.
He was booked into jail for attempted carjacking.
"To us, it's kind of comical. It's the kind of thing a police officer almost wishes would happen to him so somebody in the general public doesn't become a victim," said Turner.
Turner says people should always keep their doors locked when driving.
"It gives them time to react to comprehend what's going on," said Turner.
Carter is said to already be on probation for theft.
