Shreveport firefighters battled a blaze that eventually destroyed a home this evening.

It happened around 8 p.m. at a house located at 3928 Wells St., near Dead End and Tulane Avenue.

That's off Linwood Avenue.

Police initially arrived at the home in response to a burglar alarm and found the building fully engulfed in flames.

Fire officials say the home was a total loss, with 12 fire trucks on scene at one point to help get the blaze under control.

No was at home at the time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
