Sunday night was an evening to celebrate music. The first African American Music Awards kicked off. Hundreds, dressed for the red carpet, gathered at Riverview Hall for a night full of songs and praises. The black tie affair was hosted by the African American Celebration Committee. Lead organizer Representative Barbara Norton says the event highlights artists from around Louisiana. The event was the first of many, so expect more next year.
