Former football player and body builder Ken Meeks couldn't even walk up the stairs a couple of years ago.

The owner of Plex Fitness in Shreveport was suddenly hit hard with stroke-like symptoms. "Actually, I had my wrist rolling up and I was really struggling to walk, you know, to get upstairs I would basically have to pull myself up with my right arm."

Meeks' spinal column was strangling his spinal cord. After surgery performed by Dr. Anil Nanda, Meeks was good to go. Except, that he had lost 40-pounds in muscle weight, gained fat and lost a lot of function.

So, Meeks turned to his friend, Dr. Carroll Baker, who practices Korean medicine, which includes nutrition, accupuncture, accupressure, guided imagery and visualization. "What I did was change some of the format of the lifting to be more therapeutic, rather than recreational," said Baker.

Meeks says it's working. And the proof is in the pounds. Meeks has lost the fat and is gaining back his motivation and strength through weight-lifting.

"Life is great," says Meeks. "My blessing is that God had placed both Dr. Nanda and Carroll here for me.
