Monday's heavy rainfall proved too much for DeSoto Regional Health System where water as deep as four inches damaged nearly one-third of the facility.
CEO Doug Efferson says eighty rooms were flooded. Two patients had to be moved to other rooms. Nobody was injured.
"Not one service that we provide here stopped. Our outpatient services have continued and our inpatient services. It did not impact our emergency services," said Efferson.
Efferson says water from Jefferson Street overwhelmed the hospital's drainage system. Administrators and city officials have started working on a long-term solution.
Crews with Servpro, a fire and water cleanup and restoration company, have been working in the hospital since Monday morning. They arrived within an hour of the initial flooding.
No word on how much the damage will cost, but Efferson says the hospital is fully insured.
