Almost every year in the state of Louisiana, hurricanes drive people from their homes in search of safety. The American Red Cross is in need of volunteers for the 2012 hurricane season to receive training in advance. The Red Cross will offer training statewide to prepare volunteers, including health professionals, to serve in shelters.

Date: Saturdays, May 19, June 9 or July 14, 2012

Time: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Locations: Local Red Cross chapters in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, New Orleans and Shreveport. In Shreveport, the training will be held at 805 Brook Hollow Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105 (next to Country Tavern).

Cost: free.
