Good news for those looking for a job. There's a chance General Electric will be expanding its Shreveport plant. Caddo Commissioner Kenneth Epperson says the parish has been contacted by GE about a new project. It's one that would bring a product line to their current plant in West Caddo Parish and maybe some expansions. No word yet on how many jobs would be created.

"Of course we want to find out how many jobs it's going to create, and what economic impact that will bring to the citizens of Caddo parish," Epperson said.

To help with their project, Epperson says GE is participating in the Louisiana Quality Jobs program, which offers state and local incentives. He says GE could receive a 4 percent tax rebate from Caddo Parish. However, Caddo Commissioners need to pass a resolution supporting GE's project and approving the rebate.

"So, what we're saying, for them buying that new equipment and expanding and the new construction and the possibility of hiring new people, whatever they're expending in those taxes, we'll rebate that back to them," Epperson said.

KTBS tried to speak with GE officials today with no luck. We'll will bring updates to you as this story unfolds.
