Louisiana (KTBS) -

If you are thinking about getting your GED now is a good time to do it.

In 2014, the test gets tougher.

In order to pass, local educators say you'll need to display a higher level of thinking.

They say there will be more analysis and more evidence based writing.

Jeanie Armstrong with the Bossier Learning Center says the change comes about because it's been about a decade since a new test has come out and standards have since changed.

The new tougher test rolls out January 1, 2014.

So, the push is on now to get students GED ready and pass the exam before the new requirements kick in.

“We’re actually conducting a recruitment campaign at this time,” said Armstrong.  “We’ve been doing some mail outs and some advertisements trying to reach some of those who have begun their test and maybe have not finished it.”

Come January, if you haven't met all requirements of the old GED you'll have to start all over with the new GED.

Another reason many want to take the test now, the price will go up in the new year.
