General headed to Barksdale command

NEW ORLEANS -

An Air Force official from Fort Belvoir, Va., is coming to Barksdale Air Force Base as director of operations for the headquarters of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The Pentagon said Brig. Gen. Michael Fortney is currently director of nuclear support for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency at Fort Belvoir.

In other personnel moves affecting Louisiana, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Marine Col. David Bellon has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general and Navy Capt. Brian Pecha has been nominated for the rank of rear admiral (lower half).

Bellon is chief of staff for the Marine Individual Mobilization Augmentees command in New Orleans.

Pecha serves as force surgeon at the Marine Forces Reserve base in New Orleans.
