The Maecenas Society of Caddo Magnet High School presents the Fifteenth Annual Mary Jane Malone Lecture Series on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Author Lalita Tademy is the guest lecturer.  Tademy is the famed author of Cane River, which tells the story of four generations of Creole women, from slavery to Jim Crow, set amidst a backdrop of more than one-hundred years of American history.  Cane River was selected as Oprah’s Book of the Month Club in 2001 and was on the New York Times Best Sellers List. Her second novel, Red River, is also an NYT best seller and was selected as San Francisco’s One City, One book for 2007. Tademy is currently working on her third novel.

During the day, Tademy will visit with students and teachers.  At 6:30 o’clock, she will speak to the public in a free lecture in the Ran Kiper Performing Arts Center on the grounds of Caddo Magnet High
