EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) -- A judge has set an Oct. 2 hearing on pre-trial matters for the man accused in the 1992 slaying of a man at an El Dorado flower shop.

James Clemons, 45, is charged with capital murder in the death of Billy Ponder, who was stabbed to death inside his business. The case had lingered without an arrest until March, when DNA from the crime scene allegedly linked Clemons to the case.

Clemons has denied being involved in Ponder's death, but admitted to police he was at the crime scene and took money from Ponder, authorities said. Clemons initially denied he knew Ponder.

Police arrested Clemons in Wisconsin. He was returned to Arkansas and is held without bond at the Union County Jail.
