Combat veterans who were once deployed can find themselves unemployed, and the battle they now face is finding a job. Tina Kingston is Louisiana Employment Transition Coordinator who serves all branches of the military. Her job is to help veterans turn their military training into skills that can be translated into the private sector. She says the program was initially geared toward the guard and reserve, due to the high volume of deployments. And with a struggling economy she says it's getting tougher for the service members to find good paying jobs. The free service began 2011 as a resource for service members only, but it is now open to spouses as well. Senator Mary Landrieu supported the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus to hire veterans, says, "after everything our servicemen and women have given us, we must do everything we can to help them make the transition from boots to business and hopefully become entrepreneurs and job creators themselves." Kingston has helped thirty people find jobs. She says anyone looking for a job Hero-2-Hired has a powerful job search and online community to get you started with features including a mobile app, social networking, military skills translator, and live virtual hiring events. The next job fair for military, spouses and dependents will be April 12th at the Bossier Civic Center, from 10 AM to 1 PM.
