Shreveport Fire Fighters battled a house fire in Southwest Shreveport, that might have started in the kitchen.
It happened a little before 6:30 at the nine thousand block of Letha Loop. When fire crews arrived on scene the one story brick home was fully involved with fire and heavy black smoke was coming from all openings of the home. Fire crews initially knocked down the heavy flames from the outside, as the fire extended into the attic space and vented through the roof. Three people were home at the time; all escaped without injury. The female adult of the home did state, she had placed grease on the stove and walked away to do laundry. When she returned to the kitchen she heard popping noises and saw smoke and fire in the kitchen. She then exited the home with her children and called for help from a neighbor’s phone. The home is completely gone. The fire investigator is still investigating whether the exact cause of the fire was unattended cooking.
