NATCHITOCHES – The Iridium Quartet will present a free concert Friday, May 25 at 6 p.m. at Beau Jardin on the downtown riverbank in Natchitoches.
The concert is presented by the Natchitoches Main Street Program as part of the "Jazz in the Park" series.
The Iridium Quartet is a professional saxophone quartet that performs music of all varieties including - jazz, classical, Latin and beyond.
Drawing upon a rich history of nearly ten years of shared collaboration, saxophonists Paul Nolen, Marcos Colón, Paul Forsyth, and Eric Lau join forces in Iridium Quartet. Forsyth is an associate professor of saxophone at Northwestern State.
Veteran chamber musicians as well as soloists, individual members have performed and given master classes throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil and the UK. Members of Iridium have also won top prizes in competitions including the MTNA National Chamber Music and Solo competitions, the North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition and were semi-finalists in the Concert Artist Guild International Competition.
The Iridium Quartet is committed to bringing vibrant and engaging music to their audiences, and toexpand the scope of the saxophone quartet to reach varied audiences. The quartet has performed concerts throughout the United States including appearances in New Mexico, Georgia, Illinois and Louisiana. It appeared in residencies at the University of New Mexico with composer Martin Bresnick, and at Illinois State University with composer David Maslanka.
