A federal jury in Little Rock has begun deliberations in the case of a former police officer charged in a drug and corruption investigation in eastern Arkansas.
   Deliberations started Thursday afternoon after federal prosecutors asked the jury to convict former Helena-West Helena police officer Marlene Kalb of extortion, money laundering and drug-related charges.
   Defense attorney John Wesley Hall Jr. said prosecutors didn't prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt and did not prove that Kalb was not entrapped.
   Kalb has pleaded not guilty and maintained her innocence. She testified in her own defense Wednesday and denied the allegations against her.
   She was indicted last year in an investigation called "Operation Delta Blues" that focused on corruption and drug trafficking in eastern Arkansas.
