There is good and bad news for evacuees, who are asking about debit cards and help with expenses.
Volunteers at the state-wide 211 call center are having to tell people because this is considered a local/state disaster not a national one, no debit cards will be issued.
Hotel costs for people who fled Hurricane Gustav will be reimbursed by FEMA. It's unclear whether fuel and food will also be covered.
For now, evacuees should save 'all' of their receipts and register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA
