Legal motions could delay Horn trial
Unresolved pretrial issues could mean more delays in the case of Brian Horn, charged with first-degree murder in the 2010 death of a 12-year-old boy from DeSoto Parish.
At a hearing Wednesday, Judge Robert Burgess granted defense and prosecution attorneys new deadlines for briefs concerning a motion to suppress evidence. And the defense filed three new motions this month, according to The Times.
The trial currently is set for August.Horn is charged in the death of Justin M. Bloxom of Stonewall.
Prosecutors say he was lured to a meeting by someone posing as a young girl in cellphone text messages.
At issue in Wednesday's hearing were defense motions to suppress evidence, including a cellphone and SIM card recovered after Horn's arrest.
