Lindale, Texas mayor passes away

The mayor of Lindale has passed away. Dr. James E. Ballard died Saturday morning following a short illness. Dr. Ballard had been Lindale's mayor since May of 2006.

He was also associated with the Tyler police department, since he initiated the department's volunteer chaplains program in December of 1995. That program assists officers and victims in times of extreme crisis.

Services are pending with Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to:
