Bossier City mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker will seek a third term in office.
Walker announced Thursday morning that he will run for re-election next spring.
"There's been a little bit of speculation about whether I was or was not going to run for mayor again," Walker said. "And the answer is I will definitely be a candidate for mayor next year."
After retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a colonel, Walker spent some 25 years in city government. He was the chief administrative officer under long-time mayor George Dement for 16 years. Then Walker was elected mayor himself in 2005.
"I'm not a question mark. People know what I am, who I am and what I've done," said Walker.
"I just intend to let my record speak for itself."
Walker is the first candidate to put his name in the race so far. The 78-year-old republican ran unopposed for his second term in 2009.
The primary election is April 6, 2013.
