Bossier City, La. -

Louisiana Representative Henry Burns (R- LA District 9) says he is talking with Bossier Parish school administrators to make sure nothing like the recent deadly Newtown, Connecticut spree happens in his hometown.

"It is a call to action, to open the doors and explore because who knows when it's going to happen again," Burns says.

A long-time 2nd Amendment supporter, Burns says he has talked with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office and Captain Donnie Dison, Director of Bossier Parish Schools Security.

Burns wants to find ways to strengthen security for the area's youngest and most vulnerable citizens. He says the parish already uses trained school resource officers in high schools and middle schools, but not at the elementary level.
