WEBSTER PARISH, La. -

A Dubberly man accused of forcible rape has been sentenced to serve 12 years hard labor in the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
Travis Rexford, 28, was sentenced Monday by Judge Ford Stinson during court proceedings in the 26th Judicial District. A jury found Rexford guilty of forcible rape in late October after hearing testimony that he forced the victim to perform oral sex on him after striking the victim’s 19-year-old daughter in the back with a homemade club as she and her mother performed household cleaning tasks at Rexford’s home.
According to the Webster Parish District Attorney’s Office, testimonies heard by the court also stated that while still armed with the club, Rexford threatened to beat the two women to death and later ordered the victim to perform oral sex while her daughter was forced to watch from underneath her mother’s arm.
Both mother and daughter later managed to escape Rexford’s custody and call for help.
“Rexford’s two small children were also present in the home during the rape,” the DA’s office said in a statement Monday.
Despite the victim revealing in court that she has forgiven Rexford and has left judgment to God and Judge Stinson, Rexford’s trial testimony offered no confession. The DA’s office says he denied allegations of forcible rape. However, Rexford later offered an apology during sentencing.
“I’m sorry for what I’ve done and I ask you for forgiveness and I’ve thought about it every day and I asked God for forgiveness and I’m sorry for what I did to you and your family,” Rexford said at sentencing.
The allegations of forcible rape were investigated by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant District Attorney Darius Q. Henderson prosecuted the cases. Both which District Attorney Schuyler Marvin commended Monday for their efforts.
