The Bossier Sheriff's Office gave an important lesson to a group of women Saturday.
A ladies' self defense class was held today at the Viking Drive substation, the first under Sheriff Julian Whittington.
The group of women, ranging from all ages, learned the best ways to get away from a dangerous situation.
Several of the women say it was an informative and fun time that's well worth it for safety this holiday season.
"There have been attacks on senior citizens, and I feel I need to be prepared," one student said.
"The holiday season when you're out shopping a lot, in the evening, by yourself," another said. "So, I feel safer after learning some of the things that we've learned."
