A longtime local news anchor and former Public Service Commissioner has died.
Don Owen passed away Sunday morning of complications from pneumonia.
Owen began his career in radio broadcasting in Oklahoma, before turning to television in 1953.
Owen left the news business in 1984 to begin his career as District 5 Public Service Commissioner in Shreveport.
He was re-elected twice, eventually serving 3 six-year terms.
Owen is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dagmar, and is survived by his son, Daryl, and daughter, Donna.
