Beginning this weekend, minors will no longer be allowed at the Louisiana Boardwalk at night without adult supervision.
Operators of the Bossier City riverfront shopping and entertainment center on Sunday will begin a 6 p.m. "escort policy."
Children 17 and under will not be allowed in the public space of the Boardwalk after 6 p.m. unless they are supervised by an adult who is at least 21.
Officials said they decided to implement the new policy because too many children -- some of them misbehaving -- were running around the Boardwalk with no supervision. Especially on Friday and Saturday night, many parents drive children to the Boardwalk, drop them off and leave.
Boardwalk General Manager Ray Tromba said he wants a family atmosphere, and a few unruly kids are jeopardizing that.
"I believe some of the kids who just come out here to hang out have deterred some adults from coming down here," Tromba said. "I've heard that many times."
