Secretary of State Tom Schedler and the Friends of LSEM, Inc. announce the continuation of the popular Remember in Shreveport When exhibit. The exhibit will honor the American Soldier on Saturday June 23, 2012 and opens to the public at 10 a.m. at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. The exhibit will be on display until July 28. June 23 will honor the American Soldier with a program, “Barksdale Field in the Beginning,” with William Lane Calloway, beginning at 1:30pm in the museum’s auditorium. Calloway is the Historian for Headquarters, Eighth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Air Forces Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. He provides history coverage to the 608th Air & Space Operations Center; 608th Air Communications Squadron and 608th Strategic Operations Squadron. His responsibilities are to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret primary and secondary data in providing historical information, services, and papers to the Commander and Staff of the “The Mighty Eighth” covering the missions assigned to Eighth Air Force (Air Force Strategic). Local talent, Kyle and Sara Stone, will provide live musical entertainment from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Other featured events include Tom Pace’s radio show, “Talk of the Town,” from 11am-1pm. Regular hours for the museum are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Additionally for this exhibit only, the museum will be open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road, between Hearne and Jewella Streets. Admission is free and tours are available by appointment.
