Man accused of setting house fire, injuring grandmother
Shreveport Police responded to a call about a possible shooting around 8:45 Monday evening on Melinda Street.
Police say the elderly homeowner- who was celebrating her birthday- was not shot but did suffer minor injuries in a physical altercation with a family member.
Shreveport PD had to rush into the home after that male family member allegedly started a small fire inside the home.
"Authorities were able to make entry inside the home once the suspect in all this lit a five gallon butane burner- which it lit the house," says Corporal Marcus Hines. "Officers had to react quickly to make sure the house did not become fully involved."
Police took one man into custody at the Melinda Street address but did not give the suspect's identity.
No word on his charges.
