An 18-year-old Lafayette man has been arrested in the weekend shooting death of one man and the wounding of another.
Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton tells The Advocate that Kentrell James Morrison was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting.
Police say the shooting occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in a Taco Bell parking lot.
Mouton says the victims were standing in the parking lot when the suspect drove up in an older model car. The suspect fired multiple shots at the victims, striking 19-year-old Frederick Joseph in the back and the 23-year-old New Iberia man in the back and leg.
Mouton says Joseph later died from his injuries. He says the second victim, whose name was not released, was released from the hospital
