A man is behind bars, accused of an attempted sexual assault and stabbing a woman with a hypodermic needle during an attack at a Shreveport motel.

It happened just after midnight Sunday morning at the Motel California in the 7300 block of Lewis Lane.

Police say 43-year-old Derrick Dewayne Johnson forced his way into a motel room and attacked a woman with a knife and hypodermic needle while he tried to rape her.

He's been charged with one count of home invasion and one count of attempted aggravated rape.
