A Harrison County, Texas, man killed his ex-wife, drove her body to an area off interstate 20 and dumped it before killing himself, sheriff's investigators said today.

The bodies of Travis Stevens, 45, and Kathleen Stevens, 44, were found near I-20 and Farm Road 31 Monday afternoon.

Investigators said they believe Travis Stevens shot his ex-wife several times at another location, then drove her body to a service road alongside I-20, where he shot himself.

Investigators said they were trying to determine what prompted the shooting. They said they knew of no prior history of violence between the two.

Deputies said they were first called to the Stevens house east of Highway 31 but found no signs of a crime. They later got a call that led them to the service road
