A 22-year-old man was killed Tuesday evening when his speeding car ran off a highway north of Shreveport and crashed. A passenger was seriously injured.
The wreck happened on rain-slick Louisiana 169 near Crouch Dam Road.
Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies said Tony Whittington of Mooringsport was driving at a high rate of speed when his car ran off the road in a curve. Whittington was pronounced dead at North Caddo Memorial Hospital in Vivian.
A passenger, Robert Lee Smith, 29, of Mooringsport, was ejected from the car. He was taken to LSU Hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries.
