It's been about one year since the referendum passed allowing the area's sixth casino to drop anchor in Bossier City. Work on the resort-casino is on the fast track to completion. William Trotter, co-owner of the Margaritaville Resort-Casino is happy with progress of the project. With four restaurants that will seat about seven hundred guests is also included with the  eighteen story hotel, he now has to fill it with workers. "The casino itself will have three shifts of at least seventy-five people per shift at twenty-four hours a day," Trotter said.
He says they will start having job fairs in late January to fill the twelve hundred jobs needed to run the resort-casino. "We'll do it in categories, restaurants, housekeeping, casino, all the way down to valet parking,  it's just a huge number of jobs," Trotter said.
Bossier Mayor Lo Walker says this will help the local economy. "This has become a tourist destination but this is gonna greatly enhance traffic flow between the Dallas-Fort Worth area and this which has always been a big part of our market," Walker said.
The casino is still on schedule to open next June. And one interesting note the casino will actually be a barge about the size of a football field. Trotter says they'll place two smoke stacks on top and a paddle wheel in the back to make it look like a riverboat. The ninety seven million dollar project is projected to generate more than twelve million dollars in new local tax revenues.
