Marshall, Tx. -

There could be some changes in store for the Marshall Independent School District.
It's all because of a policy update from the Texas Association of School Boards.
Melinda Jones is the Deputy Superintendent of the Marshall Independent School District and says "the Texas Association of School Boards Policy Update 95 allows the district a little more freedom to make decisions on a local level."
She says they update their policy regularly.
There are a few changes in the update that could change Marshall schools if the district decides to make those changes.
Jones says "this school board has the right to change the name of the district. Of course, we're not going to change the name of Marshall ISD. But the school board has that right."
Jones says this policy update is designed to allow the school district to better serve Marshall.
The next meeting of the Marshall Independent School District will be Monday at 5:30 pm.
