Marshall Texas Burglar Caught
On Tuesday December 11, 2012 at 6:55am, Marshall Police received call from the 600 block of Pinewood Drive located inside the city limits of Marshall, in reference to a burglary of a vehicle in which a rifle was reported stolen.
Shortly thereafter, MPD received another call regarding a black male, later identified as Corey Lee Johnson, running in the same area carrying a rifle. Officers searched the area but were unable to find him.
At 9:55am, MPD dispatched officers to the 700 block of Rosewood Circle where Johnson was seen armed with several rifles.
Upon arrival, Johnson led officers on a foot chase but was caught and arrested a short time later.
After further investigation Johnson was booked into Harrison County Jail for: Burglary of a Vehicle (6 counts) Class “A” Misdemeanor; Burglary of a Building (State Jail Felony); Theft of a Firearm (2 counts) (State Jail Felony); Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony) and Evading Arrest/Detention (Class “A” Misdemeanor).
All of the above listed charges where committed between December 10, 2012 at
7:45pm and December 11, 2012 at 6:55am, except for the charge of Burglary of a Building that was reported on October 26, 2012.
During this time of the year there is always an increase of crime. Residents are advised to ensure that all vehicles are locked prior to entering their residence or a place of business and please remember to keep all valuables out of sight.
