There are two new people working for Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover.
Steven Jackson has been hired as a staff executive assistant. And Sherricka Fields was hired as the assistant chief administrative officer for the city of Shreveport.
Council Chairman Michael Corbin says both are likely qualified for the jobs. But Corbin says Fields' past employment leaves room for question.
For the last ten months Fields has served as manager of administrative services for the Shreveport Airport Authority.
But From 2007 to 2012, Fields was Vice President/Public Finance Investment Banker for the Shreveport office of Grigsby and Associates. Calvin Grigsby had served as a financial consultant for the city for years.
In January of 2012 the Shreveport City Council ordered an external audit that later alleged Grigsby and Associates had overbilled Shreveport taxpayers by more than $8,000. The audit report also indicated nearly $700,000 in questionable charges to the city.
Corbin says there's no indication that Fields had any role in the irregularities. But when it comes to the mayor's office potentially asking for money back from Grigsby's firm, the assistant CAO could be at the bargaining table.
Fields is filling the shoes of former Assistant CAO Brian Crawford, who had previously served 27 years with the Shreveport Fire Department, including his time as chief.
But Mayor Cedric Glover says any concerns are unwarranted and his choice was easy.
"She did an outstanding job in her time at Grigsby," said Mayor Glover. "I will stress that. And she was exceptional in her time at the airport."
The starting salary for the assistant CAO position is $101,000 per year.
