More than two dozen police officers in Texas have died in the line of duty the last two years.

Four of those fallen officers were from East Texas.

They were among those remembered Thursday at peace officer memorial ceremonies across the state.

Bowie County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Page was killed June 30, 2007, while trying to apprehend a hit and run suspect.

Deputy Page was recognized during a ceremony in Marshall along with three other fallen East texas officers.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Todd Dylan Holmes, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Dale Sherrill and DPS Trooper James Scott Burns were also honored.

Trooper Burns' family was present at the ceremony.

Flowers and a bible were given to those there for each of the fallen officers.

Fellow officers say these ceremonies are always a somber reminder of the dangers of their job and it's especially difficult when officers from surrounding agencies have died doing their job.
