A Minden Police officer is mourning the sudden death of his partner of four years.
Officer Danny “Bo” Turner says the loss of K-9 Officer Kash, a mult-purpose German Shephard, is taking a toll on both him and his family, including his 9-year-old son Bryson.
“He was a unique gentle dog, especially with children. He was only aggressive when told,” Turner said Sunday night as he recalled several successful drug busts in which Kash was instrumental. “He will be missed. He was part of our family.”
Kash died Sunday shortly after 7 p.m. at Turner’s Minden home. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
The Minden Police Department obtained Kash from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in September 2008. Turner has been the dog’s only handler since that transition. In past years the department has held special burial service ceremonies for fallen K-9 officers. As of late Sunday, burial services could not been confirmed.
