Minden man convicted following wild run from police; could face life in prison

A Minden man could be facing a lengthy prison sentence following his conviction Wednesday in Caddo Parish district court.

Bobby Charles Byrd, 39, was found guilty by a Caddo Parish jury of aggravated flight from an officer, and District Attorney’s prosecutors plan to seek multiple offender status which could put Byrd in prison for life.

Byrd was found guilty of leading Shreveport police officers on a high speed chase through the city and into Bossier City in July, 2011. Byrd abandoned his vehicle and jumped into the Red River in an attempt to elude capture, but he was pulled from the river and arrested.

Judge Ramona Emanuel ordered Byrd to return to court Jan. 28 to obtain setting.
Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorneys Aaron Crawford and Treneisha Jackson successfully prosecuted the case.
