Monroe Unveils New Emergency System
Monroe city officials have unveiled a new emergency coordination system they say will help better disseminate information to the public and emergency responders during emergency events.
The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/UXA46E ) on Wednesday the Monroe Emergency Coordination Center will be housed in the Monroe Public Safety Center and serve as a central point for all city departments to meet and coordinate city resources and responses during major emergency incidents.
the MECC will be activated by the Monroe mayor during times of major disasters that impact the city but don't meet the level of a disaster declaration by the Ouachita Parish Homeland Security Office.
It will be activated for emergencies that are specific only to the boundaries of the city of Monroe.
